Competition level
The C-League is the highest level of Cambodia's soccer championships. This is the equivalent level of competition of the French Ligue 1, the English Premier League, the Spanish Liga, the Italian Serie A, the Belgian Division 1.
Challenge of the competition
First in the standings: Qualification for the AFC Cup 2022 (Asian Football Confederation).
Last of the ranking: Relegation to the second division, the C-League 2 Season 2022.
The ranking is based on the classic point allocation system (3 point win, 1 point draw, 0 point loss). To decide between the teams in the event of a tie, we first take into account the general goal difference, then the number of goals scored, then direct confrontations.
Status of participants
The clubs in this league 1 can be described as professional. From its salaries, 2 to 10 times the average monthly income per capita (+ - $120), depending on the level of players and clubs, from the infrastructure, number and quality of workouts.
Regulations for foreign players
How many foreign players can play per team?
List of foreign players playing in C-League. Regulation 2021: As for its neighbor the Thai League 1, the Cambodian D1 championship limits the number of foreign players per team and per match. Only 4 foreign players (3 + 1 player from the AFC region) can play at the same time in the same club team. Which gives us a maximum of 8 foreign players playing in a match. Cambodian clubs can recruit a maximum of 5 foreign players per first team.
This policy aims to encourage countries to develop their national talents, to invest in football academies, youth training centers, instead of buying expensive foreign players.

Stadiums
Travel between stadiums
The distance of travel between the various stadiums in Cambodia remains a major obstacle to the development of clubs in the kingdom. The consequent budget and the duration of the journeys, due in part to unsuitable road infrastructure, currently in full renovation, prevents the creation of a greater number of football clubs in the various provinces of Cambodia. Example: Battambang province and its 1 million inhabitants, 280 km away, more than 6 hours by bus. It has not been more than 3 seasons that the Cambodia League has been played outside the capital, Phnom Penh.
